​Cooking Texana Canadian Wild Rice

You can cook the rice in a normal manner, adding cooking time as desired. 

Some people like to 'overcook' the rice so it splits open and then add it to soups or salads.  Others prefer to add to another variety of rice in the cooking process.

To cook the rice, please complete as follows.

Add one cup of rice to two cups of water.  Add butter or margarine if desired. 

Bring to a boil and reduce to slow simmer for about 40 minutes. 

Add additional time, watching the liquid level to ensure still available. 

To allow splitting, cook an additional 10 - 15 minutes. 

Remove from heat and fluff with fork, recover and leave about 5 minutes.
